Filler Project: Spa Washcloth

Hello Everyone!

This week was so busy! I did not have a lot of time to work on my new blanket project but I did have a few minutes here and there, between the AH, OOPS, MOMMY moments and of course the packing to move. So I decided to fill those moments with a quick and easy project, wash cloths.

crochet spa washclothCrochet wash cloths are so easy to make and there are many patterns. One of my favorites is the sc/dc skip stitch pattern. I do not know really what the actual name of this stitch is.

crochet spa washclothI have seen it used in many projects but never seen a real name. Does anyone know? Leave a comment!

This is the same stitch that I used in my SunRise Placemat Set. crochet spa washclothI don’t know if you can tell from the photos but there are little specs of green in the white wash cloths as well. That is why I made a green one for this set.

crochet spa washclothI will be listing this set in my Etsy shop, GiftsByCricket, later tonight. So if you would like to buy this set you can do so there. Or if you would like to request a set like this made in another color feel free to send me a message.

That’s all for this week! Next week I expect to have my modern baby stripe blanket finished so keep a watch out for that.

Until then, Keep those hooks moving!

Crochet Cardigan

I recently shared a free crochet cardigan pattern with you guys from Lion Brand Yarns.

Here is my version of this pattern.

crochet cardigan This is the very first piece of real clothing I have made. Meaning there are sleeves. I really love this pattern for a beginner in crochet clothes. I was simple and gives you a good understanding and basic shaping techniques. The bobble, ch,bobble stitch is lovely as well it looks kinda like an upside down shell.

crochet cardiganMy daughter is 4 years old. She wears a size 5-6 because she is so tall. So this size 6-8 is too big for her right now. But she really likes it. She is having a bit of fun being silly in her room.

I still need to add a button or toggle for a closure. I will definitely make another one of these and I will give re-sizing it a try.

What do you think?

Modern Granny Stripe Baby Blanket

Hello everyone!

Sorry I couldn’t get my update posts up yesterday, I just couldn’t get to it. But, I am really excited about this new pattern I have found. It is for a granny stripe blanket. It is a very nice modern take on the classic granny square and if your granny squares lean like mine do you will really enjoy the straight lines in this project.

Basically you begin with one long chain. Depending on the size of the blanket you want to make. My blanket is for a baby so I only chained 99 (needing a multiple of 3). I will add a border when I am finished.

I am using 4 colors. White stripes flow between each of the colored rows.

crochet modern granny stripe baby blanketI am using 100% cotton. I want to back this blanket with fleece or flannel. Have any of you lined a crochet blanket? How do you do it?

crochet modern granny stripe baby blanketI am really enjoying this blanket. It is a really quick and easy pattern. Once you get past the 2nd row it works up so fast. I love it! Great project for those days when you just want to hook and not think too much about it. You can find a tutorial on this pattern at attic24.

I hope you guys enjoy this post. What do you think of my color combinations?

Leave a comment! I look forward to hearing from you.

Free Pattern Find: Bebop Cardi

Hello! It’s time for another free pattern find!

I have been searching for some simple, free cardigan patterns. I want to make some size 5-6 and size 2 for my daughter and nieces. I found this really great, free pattern for a simple cardigan but the smallest size is size 6-8. This pattern is by Lion Brand Yarns.Style: "Neutral"It it a great little pattern that is also available on Ravelry if you want to put it on your project queue. I made this cardigan in two days working about 5 hours total. It is very quick and easy. It is a little too big for my daughter so I will be experimenting with the pattern to see if I can make one a size smaller.

Any tips on how to re-size a pattern like this? Or do you guys know something similar available for size 2-6? If you do, Please share!

This is the first piece of clothing I have made. If you are truly new to crocheting wearables/clothes I highly recommend this pattern.

Hope you guys enjoy this free pattern find. I will be sharing my version of this cardigan on my Wednesday update so keep an eye out for that. Have a great week!

Crochet Ocean Waves Afghan

Back Again!

Now for the second part of this weeks update. I began an Ocean Waves Afghan this week. Well I shouldn’t say afghan because I am only doing a baby blanket size. There is a Crochet Along Challenge with Mikey from the Crochet Crowd at Red Heart Yarn. Although I am not participating in this challenge I really fell in love with this afghan and wanted to try it.

ocean waves baby blanket

My sister-in-law is having a baby boy giving me the perfect opportunity! This is my second attempt at making a blanket. The first was a granny square blanket. I really LOVE this pattern.

ocean-waves-baby-blanket

It is so easy. It works up super quick. I have only worked on this blanket for two nights. If you have never made a blanket I suggest this one. Mikey breaks everything down. Shows you how to do the stitches, how to fix your mistakes and has charts to help you understand the stitch work.

bernat-handicrafter-cotton

I used Bernat handicrafter cotton in blue, beige and brown. This is a great choice of fiber for a summer time blanket. If you want a warmer blanket you may want to use acrylic.

You can find all the links you need to make your own Ocean Waves Afghan by clicking HERE!

Hope you enjoy this afghan as much as I do. Have a great day!

I have heart rings, bracelets and clip on accessories.

Clips are very versatile. I can put this heart in my daughter’s hair or just attach it to a shirt, bag or beanie.

crochet heart bracelet gift valentines day

I made these easy bracelets by chaining 21 then sc 2 rows and slip stitching all the way around to finish the edges. I left two secured tails for ties.

This photo shows the bottom of the crochet heart ring. I made this separate from the heart then attached it. Chain 10 then slip stitch back across and join tightly for very small fingers of course.

I hope you guys like my crochet heart collection. Any one of these gifts can be made in less than an hour maybe 30 minutes depending on your level. Check my original featured post for “Easiest Crochet Heart” for a tutorial on how to crochet a basic heart.

Enjoy! And Have a Great Valentines Day!!
