Crochet Hat Madness: Projects in Progress

Hello everyone,

I am still working on crochet hats and beanies and I have a few that are really turning out nicely. I really enjoy making hats and I am getting better with each one in skill which is very exciting. Practice makes perfect! If you want to make crochet hats you should check out bobwilson123 and Crochet Geek on youtube for some great tutorials.

Here are my latest creations with links to their free patterns/tutorials. I hope you enjoy these!

Works in Progress:

Warm Winter Hat

This is a warm winter hat. Free pattern is available at Crochet Garden. I am really enjoying this pattern. It is a nice thick hat and takes an entire ball of yarn. I would have two balls of yarn to be save you may need a little more than one ball. The ribbing on this hat gives it a knitted feel.

Double Crochet Shell Beanie

I absolutely love this beanie it’s so pretty. It is quick to make and I would think a beginner with basic stitch knowledge would be able to follow the tutorial. Clare at bobwilson123 does a great job explaining how to make this beanie.

This is a shell crochet beanie and I think the pattern is great. I am not sure about using this multicolored yarn. What do you guys think of the colors with this pattern?

I am going to make a solid colored one to compare. I am also thinking of changing the brim and adding a flower. With this one I am up for any advise you guys would have.

Crochet Geek offers this free written pattern here and you can also find a link to her youtube tutorial as well as a matching scarf pattern there.

Puff Stitch Slouch Beanie

It’s Freezing!

Brrrr! Hello fellow crocheters…

I can’t believe I am saying this but it is -34 C with the wind chill outside  where I live in Quebec. That’s -29 F. And over night it was even colder. It’s Freezing!

While trying to stay warm I have been working on a new winter hat. I found a really nice free crochet pattern I would like to share with you guys. If any of you are freezing as well and in need of a new hat you should try this pattern.

This is an intermediate skill level crochet hat that uses fpdc/fptr and bpdc to create  beautiful cables and ribbed effects. I am halfway done with it and I am really enjoying this pattern. I am using the suggested 5mm hook but I am considering using a 4.5mm hook for the next one to make it a little tighter.

Stay warm 🙂 and happy crocheting!

Crochet Puff Stitch Slouch Beanie

Hello everyone!

Still on the crochet hat/beanie craze and loving everyone minute of it. I am still in awe of the beautiful creations that can be made from crochet. The first hat I ever made, many moons ago, was a puff stitch slouch beanie. It was made with purple acrylic yarn for my daughter. Take a look!

Sorry, the images are a little dark.

I just made my second version of the same slouch beanie. I am really pleased with the improvement in my skill. My seam is almost invisible as well thanks to the great video tutorial for this beanie from bobwilson123. Here is my wool version of this beanie made to fit my rather large head.

As you can see I am not using the same edging. I love the ribbed edging on the tezzie hat and use it everywhere now. I have yet to make a hat I don’t like it on.

I have not sewn my tails in yet. I was too excited to make this post! What great fun these hats are to make I hope you guys have fun making them too. And oops, before I forget here is the link to the video tutorial.

Happy Crocheting!
