Crochet Hats: Tezzie Hat

Hello everyone

It had been a while since I had crocheted a hat so I thought…now is the time. But I didn’t want to do a boring hat so I searched and searched until Eureka! I found this rather incredible free crochet pattern for a tezzie hat. And might I add a very stylish crochet hat.

It comes straight to us from the land down under! Thank you cats-rockin-crochet blog. There is a great written tutorial and a video tutorial from bobwilson123 whom I adore. She is one of my favorite YouTube crocheters.

I used a larger hook on mine simply because I had already created my double crochet crown for a different pattern and didn’t want to start over. I made this hat for my daughter and I love it. Did I say I love it enough? Once again, I love it!

Here is my daughter modeling her new hat

I only got one shot of her wearing the hat so far she wasn’t in a modeling mood yesterday.

Here are some shots of the hat up-close

The “shell” like pattern in the special stitching is gorgeous!

The ribbing on the brim of the hat is great. I changed to a 5mm hook for this too make it a little tighter on my daughters head. The back-loop and front-loop stitch transitions gives it a little stretch. I will be using this stitch work on many of my hats from now on. Its a great way to finish a hat.

Keep in mind I worked my hat with a 5.5mm crochet hook. If you use the suggested 4mm hook your stitches will be much tighter than mine.  It only took me about 3 hours to make this hat with the 5.5mm hook. A very quick and easy crochet project and super stylish.

Crochet Tezzie hat! I’d love to hear from you guys please share your own creations and as always happy crocheting!
