Fantasy Friday: Incredible Crocheted Dragon

It’s Friday!

Almost time for the weekend! I hope you all had a wonderful week. Usually I share a free pattern that is fantasy related on Friday but not this week. This week I am sharing a link to a gorgeous crochet dragon by the crochet architect.

crochet chinese dragonThis incredible work of fiber art was created in China and was a gift to Susan the author from her son who had recently visited there.

The craftsman ship is truly inspiring. Look at the details in his face.

Hope you guys enjoy this weeks fantasy feature.

Have a great weekend!

Crochet Cardigan

I recently shared a free crochet cardigan pattern with you guys from Lion Brand Yarns.

Here is my version of this pattern.

crochet cardigan This is the very first piece of real clothing I have made. Meaning there are sleeves. I really love this pattern for a beginner in crochet clothes. I was simple and gives you a good understanding and basic shaping techniques. The bobble, ch,bobble stitch is lovely as well it looks kinda like an upside down shell.

crochet cardiganMy daughter is 4 years old. She wears a size 5-6 because she is so tall. So this size 6-8 is too big for her right now. But she really likes it. She is having a bit of fun being silly in her room.

I still need to add a button or toggle for a closure. I will definitely make another one of these and I will give re-sizing it a try.

What do you think?

Modern Granny Stripe Baby Blanket

Hello everyone!

Sorry I couldn’t get my update posts up yesterday, I just couldn’t get to it. But, I am really excited about this new pattern I have found. It is for a granny stripe blanket. It is a very nice modern take on the classic granny square and if your granny squares lean like mine do you will really enjoy the straight lines in this project.

Basically you begin with one long chain. Depending on the size of the blanket you want to make. My blanket is for a baby so I only chained 99 (needing a multiple of 3). I will add a border when I am finished.

I am using 4 colors. White stripes flow between each of the colored rows.

crochet modern granny stripe baby blanketI am using 100% cotton. I want to back this blanket with fleece or flannel. Have any of you lined a crochet blanket? How do you do it?

crochet modern granny stripe baby blanketI am really enjoying this blanket. It is a really quick and easy pattern. Once you get past the 2nd row it works up so fast. I love it! Great project for those days when you just want to hook and not think too much about it. You can find a tutorial on this pattern at attic24.

I hope you guys enjoy this post. What do you think of my color combinations?

Leave a comment! I look forward to hearing from you.

Free Pattern Find: Bebop Cardi

Hello! It’s time for another free pattern find!

I have been searching for some simple, free cardigan patterns. I want to make some size 5-6 and size 2 for my daughter and nieces. I found this really great, free pattern for a simple cardigan but the smallest size is size 6-8. This pattern is by Lion Brand Yarns.Style: "Neutral"It it a great little pattern that is also available on Ravelry if you want to put it on your project queue. I made this cardigan in two days working about 5 hours total. It is very quick and easy. It is a little too big for my daughter so I will be experimenting with the pattern to see if I can make one a size smaller.

Any tips on how to re-size a pattern like this? Or do you guys know something similar available for size 2-6? If you do, Please share!

This is the first piece of clothing I have made. If you are truly new to crocheting wearables/clothes I highly recommend this pattern.

Hope you guys enjoy this free pattern find. I will be sharing my version of this cardigan on my Wednesday update so keep an eye out for that. Have a great week!

Fantasy Friday: Crochet Collar Pattern

This is the most adorable crochet collar I have seen. In the tradition of the Peter Pan collar, this is a free pattern for a collar that can be added a dress or blouse. It really gives the outfit some style.

It really reminds of something straight out of a fairy tale. I just love it. I am looking forward to trying this pattern for my daughter.

Enjoy the Long Holiday for Memorial Day! Have fun!

Ocean Waves Afghan 80% finished

I am also working on an Ocean waves baby afghan for my sister-in-law. I am about 80% finished. I will do another wave and a border around. Here is how it looks so far.

crochet oceanwavesafghan If I make another one of these Afghans I will use a 5mm instead of a 5.5mm. But I think my next blanket in waves will be without the back loops only stitching. I am thinking I would like to do a ripple blanket. This one is really nice because it gives a 3D effect.

This is a free pattern from Red Heart. Just search their directory for Ocean Waves.

Have fun!

Color Me Pretty Purse

Good Day everyone!

Wednesday’s are update days. This week I made this purse set for a friend. She picked out the style of purse and the colors and strap size. I simply put it all into crochet. This purse is for a 6-year-old. I am considering redesigning this purse as a clutch for us big girls.

crochet bag Color me pretty purseI used the same triple layer flower that I have featured in this week’s Fun with Flowers Post.

crochet bag Color Me Pretty PurseThere is a simple button closure.

crochet bag Color Me Pretty PurseI created a lining by hand, I do not yet have a sewing machine. I am really pleased with this lining. It is the best one I have made so far. With some really fun and colorful cupcakes, this lining goes perfectly with the color scheme of this project.

I made a slimmer strap for this bag. And I used a contrasting color yarn to do some special stitch work all the way around.

crochet bag Color Me Pretty PurseThis is a set because it is not just a bag. There is also a hair clip and butterfly key ring in the same color scheme. I really love how this set came out. I am going to make another similar set soon to put into my shop GiftsByCricket. So keep watch for it.

What do you guys think? I would love to know! Remember I am also on Facebook and Pinterest and would love to chat with you about the best hobby in the world, Crochet!

Have fun!
