A Bag and Some Butterflies

Hello everyone!

I am sorry I haven’t been able to blog for a while now. My family has been super busy for the last couple of months. And now I am on the job hunt. I am really excited to get back to working now that my son is 1-year-old. I had an incredible vacation visiting my family back home in Georgia. I made my mother a ton of wash clothes and I made a new bag on the way back home. Sorry there isn’t a pattern I just made it up as I went along.

Filler Project: Spa Washcloth

Hello Everyone!

This week was so busy! I did not have a lot of time to work on my new blanket project but I did have a few minutes here and there, between the AH, OOPS, MOMMY moments and of course the packing to move. So I decided to fill those moments with a quick and easy project, wash cloths.

crochet spa washclothCrochet wash cloths are so easy to make and there are many patterns. One of my favorites is the sc/dc skip stitch pattern. I do not know really what the actual name of this stitch is.

crochet spa washclothI have seen it used in many projects but never seen a real name. Does anyone know? Leave a comment!

This is the same stitch that I used in my SunRise Placemat Set. crochet spa washclothI don’t know if you can tell from the photos but there are little specs of green in the white wash cloths as well. That is why I made a green one for this set.

crochet spa washclothI will be listing this set in my Etsy shop, GiftsByCricket, later tonight. So if you would like to buy this set you can do so there. Or if you would like to request a set like this made in another color feel free to send me a message.

That’s all for this week! Next week I expect to have my modern baby stripe blanket finished so keep a watch out for that.

Until then, Keep those hooks moving!

Crochet Cardigan

I recently shared a free crochet cardigan pattern with you guys from Lion Brand Yarns.

Here is my version of this pattern.

crochet cardigan This is the very first piece of real clothing I have made. Meaning there are sleeves. I really love this pattern for a beginner in crochet clothes. I was simple and gives you a good understanding and basic shaping techniques. The bobble, ch,bobble stitch is lovely as well it looks kinda like an upside down shell.

crochet cardiganMy daughter is 4 years old. She wears a size 5-6 because she is so tall. So this size 6-8 is too big for her right now. But she really likes it. She is having a bit of fun being silly in her room.

I still need to add a button or toggle for a closure. I will definitely make another one of these and I will give re-sizing it a try.

What do you think?

Color Me Pretty Purse

Good Day everyone!

Wednesday’s are update days. This week I made this purse set for a friend. She picked out the style of purse and the colors and strap size. I simply put it all into crochet. This purse is for a 6-year-old. I am considering redesigning this purse as a clutch for us big girls.

crochet bag Color me pretty purseI used the same triple layer flower that I have featured in this week’s Fun with Flowers Post.

crochet bag Color Me Pretty PurseThere is a simple button closure.

crochet bag Color Me Pretty PurseI created a lining by hand, I do not yet have a sewing machine. I am really pleased with this lining. It is the best one I have made so far. With some really fun and colorful cupcakes, this lining goes perfectly with the color scheme of this project.

I made a slimmer strap for this bag. And I used a contrasting color yarn to do some special stitch work all the way around.

crochet bag Color Me Pretty PurseThis is a set because it is not just a bag. There is also a hair clip and butterfly key ring in the same color scheme. I really love how this set came out. I am going to make another similar set soon to put into my shop GiftsByCricket. So keep watch for it.

What do you guys think? I would love to know! Remember I am also on Facebook and Pinterest and would love to chat with you about the best hobby in the world, Crochet!

Have fun!

Fun with Flowers

Another Monday, another fun day for free patterns. And this fun day is a fun day for flowers! OK OK that sounded too much like Dr Seuss I agree lol.

In this weeks update I featured some flowers. Here are the some of the patterns that are free for those flowers. Hope this helps you with your spring and summer projects.

flower pattern crochetThis flower is very cute but I did have a little trouble understanding the instructions at first. But as you can see I was able to work through it.

I’m going to have to frog the brim on this hat. It just didn’t come out right. But it is doing a fine job of modeling this flower. I really like the yellow and orange and I think that I will attach this flower to this hat once it is re-crocheted.

Triple Layer Flower

by Lucy at Attic24

triple layer crochet flowerThis is absolutely my most favoritist…is that a word? It is now!…favoritist flower ever! Love it, you have to try it. And the photo tutorial is amazing.

crochet flowerHere is one I just left a layer off of and it looks really nice as well. I didn’t have any sport weight yarn as the pattern called for. So I worked it with worsted cotton and a 4mm. The flowers are a little large but you have a lot of options with this. You can just do 1-2 layers or you can choose not to do the edging to change the size. They all look nice because of the way you attach into the back of the previous rows petals instead of building up.

Simple Crochet FlowerThis pattern was easy to follow and is very cute. The perfect size flower for a hair clip or a baby hat.

Hope you like this weeks free pattern finds. If you like the flowers shown here then you should check our Facebook page. I am giving one of them away for a 500 fan giveaway celebration.

Happy Crocheting and Have a good week!
